Abstract

An idea-generating task was given to groups using a GDSS in a laboratory to evaluate effects of anonymity and proximity on group functioning. Group members working anonymously and apart generated more comments. Working in the same room increased satisfaction. Highest levels of perceived system effectiveness were reported under anonymity.
