Abstract

An approach to the study of the covariance structure and the discriminating properties of psychological tests is proposed for cases in which the tests can be classified hierarchically and suitably scaled. The method makes use of a Model II analysis of variance, with certain modifications, and provides statistical tests which are not available for the more general methods of factor analysis.
