Abstract
The purpose of this research was to locate the three identity styles in Berzonsky′s model within the five-factor model of personality. Berzonsky′s (1992) Identity Style Inventory and the NEO Personality Inventory (Costa & McCrae, 1985) were completed by 189 undergraduates. The information-orientated and normative identity style scales were positively related to extraversion, agreeableness and conscientiousness. Openness was positively related to the information-orientated identity style, but negatively related to the normative identity style. The diffused/avoidant style was positively related to neuroticism, but negatively related to agreeableness and conscientiousness.
