Abstract

This book has been produced under the auspices of the Network ‘Biomass Fermentation Towards Usage in Fuel Cells’. The Network comprises nine partners from eight European countries and is funded by the European Science Foundation. This volume includes a chapter, from each of the member institutions, describing the state-of-the-art of biomass fermentation for use in various types of fuel cells and giving insight into current research. The book is divided into six parts: Status and development of bioenergy; Biomass fermentation; Fuel cells; Upgrading fermentation biofuels to fuel cell quality; Case studies; and a Glossary.
