The Trait& des passions de fame, written in French before going to Stockholm and published by Elzevier in 1650, immediately after the death of Descartes, the philosopher stressed the concept of ‘self’ which can be identified with the ‘cogitatio’ or ‘pens&e’ (consciousness) related to the well-known cognito, ergo sum (I think, therefore I am).
