Abstract
This paper focuses on the second half of the twentieth century, when the need for adequate models to understand transport/land-use interactions has become important because of the twin problems of traffic congestion and pressures for land development. The author traces the development and use of various types of models to achieve this, examines the enabling technologies and their applications, and gives pointers for their future use.
