Abstract
First paragraph: The purpose of this bibliography is to provide researchers, practitioners, and others interested in career transitions in sport with an annotated reference list on the topic. Pertinent references (viz., references focusing on career transitions in sport, athletic career termination, or retirement from sport) were initially identified by conducting a literature search using SPORTdiscus and PsycLIT. A number of journals considered likely to publish relevant citations were also reviewed, including Dissertation Abstracts International, International Journal of Sport Psychology, International Review for the Sociology of Sport, Journal of Applied Sport Psychology, Journal of Sport Behavior, Journal of Sport and Social Issues, Quest, Sociology of Sport Journal, and The Sport Psychologist. Last, an extensive manual search was conducted using the reference lists from the citations identified in the computer and journal searches.
