Abstract

A new method for solving the problem of optimal assignment of employees to work places in a given organizational structure is presented in the paper. The method's main feature is the use in a “direct” way of verbal descriptions determining the work results of particular employees and the work result of the whole structure as functions of some factors le.g. capabilities, managerial capabilities, motivation etc./ defined verbally. For that task, the theory of fuzzy sets is applied, the above factors being represented as appropriate fuzzy sets and the above expressions - as appropriate fuzzy conditional statements and/or algorithms. The determination of work results, given expressions and factors defining them, is performed by an appropriate compositional rule of inference. The use of concepts mentioned above enables to solve the problem considered in the paper, when it is difficult, if not im possible at all, to describe the system in an other then verbal way. The method is, therefore, very simple from the user's point of view.
