TL;DR

Magnetic field measurements have detected and localized transient neural activity evoked in the primary somatosensory projection area of the cortex following stimulation of the medial nerve.

Abstract

Abstract : Magnetic field measurements have detected and localized transient neural activity evoked in the primary somatosensory projection area of the cortex following stimulation of the medial nerve. Components of the magnetic response are similar to those observed for potential variations recorded directly on the surface of the brain and display comparable localization, in contrast with scalp recorded evoked potentials which are widespread over both hemispheres.
