Abstract
Weather plays an important role in all phases of the US Space Shuttle program. To ensure safe and orderly flight and landing of the Space Shuttle NASA has developed a set of Flight Rules. Segments of the Right Rules address the issue of weather and its impact upon the Shuttle. Thunderstorm proximity, precipitation, horizontal and slant range visibility, cloud ceilings, and crosswinds all impact the descent and landing of the Space Shuttle. This article will discuss the content and change process of those Flight Rules that deal specifically with weather.
