Abstract
${\mathrm{H}}_{2}$O at 300 K has been studied up to 67 GPa by Brillouin scattering. A transition to a new form of ice occurs at 44 GPa. This is the tenth known solid form of ${\mathrm{H}}_{2}$O and may be the expected "symmetric-ice" structure.
