Abstract
Promoting recovery from serious mental illness may seem like a daunting task, given the continued negative images of mental distress projected by the media. Historically, services have compounded social exclusion by removing or hiding people with mental illnesses from society. While the authors of this book do not offer a ‘recipe’ for recovery, they do provide a rich text to challenge traditional models of psychiatry and social policy.
