Abstract
SUMMARY The sounds produced by chewing foodstuffs, or by crushing them between flat surfaces, were tape recorded and analyzed as to amplitude, frequency, and duration. Preliminary data are given on chewing sound characteristics, including certain differences between foodstuffs.
