Abstract
Two kinds of networks of Russian scientists who have recently immigrated to Israel are analyzed and compared. The first type is composed of other scientists, named by the scientists investigated as having influenced their research intellectually. The second type of network includes other scientists who helped those investigated in professional matters, such as using new research techniques and connecting newcomers to scientists and institutions in the new environment. These networks differ in structure and content; however, both are important for sustained research productivity and the integration of immigrant scientists into a new scientific community and research system.
