TL;DR

Most computer users today recognize the mouse as a main­stay of graphical user computing: a way of pointing, clicking, and dragging “virtual” objects onto either a personal or shared workspace, but users do not recognize that the invention came out of a radically new way of thinking about knowledge and science.
