Abstract
Consistent with propositions derived from control theory, the results of this laboratory study showed that feedback sign had a main effect and interacted with feedback credibility to influence subjects' goal setting and performance. The findings also suggest that feedback favorability combines with ability and self-efficacy to determine performance.
