This brief communication announces the demonstration of a new protein fraction in serum from a human fetus. This fraction was discovered during an electrophoretic study of fetal serum protein patterns. The new fraction was situated between albumin and the alpha 1-globulin. A corresponding fraction was not observed in maternal serum.
