Abstract This chapter provides an introduction to the use of theory-driven approaches in the evaluation of public health programmes. It commences with some core ideas and principles, and then sets out the main research strategies and designs associated with the approach. It concludes with an indication of some noteworthy benefits and tangible limitations.
