Prestige Suggestion and Political Leadership

Abstract

In an article entitled “Political Leadership Re-examined: An Experimental Approach” which appeared in the Fall 1951 Public Opinion Quarterly (Vol. 15, No. 3) the authors suggested a number of ways in which certain social psychological concepts might be used in political science research. The findings of the study described in the current article are relevant to discovering not only how a leader makes his followers understand the problems, but also how he gains their support.
