Abstract

The isolation of yeast autonomously replicating sequences (ARSs) and their identification as origins of replication has focused attention on yeast as the only eukaryotic system in which a single chromosomal replicon can be studied in detail. In addition to ARSs, a “reverse genetics” analysis of proteins involved in yeast replication is aiding in elucidating mechanisms of eukaryotic DNA replication.
