Abstract
We derive, for the massless Yang-Mills field, a generalized Ward-Takahashi identity which implies that Z1/Z2 has a common value for the vector field and for the “fictious” scalar field, thus ensuring that the renormalized charges are equal. The identity may also be used to avoid ambiguities in working with quadratically divergent integrals.
