Abstract
There comes a point in every discipline at which the community of researchers, theorists or practitioners needs to reflect on the ontological status of the phenomena that constitute their discursive practices. Not posing this question explicitly leads only to the hidden assumption of an implicit answer. As far as psychology is concerned, the key question concerns the “level of existence” of the phenomena to which psychological knowledge is applied.
