Abstract
Organizational behavior management (OBM) is a subspecialty of applied behavior analysis that targets the performance of individuals and systems within business, manufacturing, and industry. Four decades ago, Hall in 1980 proposed that the objective of OBM was to “establish a technology of broad-scale performance improvement and organizational change so that employees will be more productive and happy, and so that our organizations and institutions will be more effective and efficient in achieving their goals”. The roots and evolution of OBM date back to the Journal of Organizational Behavior Management, first published in 1977, and have been detailed in several reviews over many years. This chapter presents and describes several key components of OBM within human services organizations for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
