Abstract
In summary, the group experience provides a forum where clients can share their problems, fears, concerns, and questions with their peers. The presence of knowledgeable staff serves to correct misconceptions when appropriate and to facilitate the group process. The principles of group therapy underlie group activities, which have resulted in mutual client support, camaraderie, and the meeting of social needs. Mutual support has been extended to spouses who share similar concerns. As informal group of family members has evolved and has been beneficial. The first step in future research will be directed to identifying characteristics of the group members, major issues of the ventricular tachycardia population, and changes in anxiety levels before and after group therapy. The second step will be to determine whether job satisfaction has been altered based on the nurses' participation in the assessment group and changes in their ability to accurately assess and intervene in patient behaviors.
