Composition of Services for Notification in Smart Homes

This work proposes a service-oriented notification system which has different simple services which provide essential communication needs, and by composing these services with applications more sophisticated needs can also be satisfied.

Abstract

Giving notifications in a timely manner is anessential service that Smart Home should provide.Communication of resident’s data to their doctor,health care provider or family member via email,phone call, or text message is indispensable. In orderto reduce the cost, improve extendibility and reduce thedeveloper’s burden and learning curve, we propose aservice-oriented notification system. This system hasdifferent simple services which provide essentialcommunication needs, and by composing these serviceswith applications more sophisticated needs can also besatisfied. A detailed description and the architectureare elaborated below.
