Abstract
This volume is about evenly divided between an articulation by Bormuth of a theory for operationally constructed achievement test items based on transformational grammar and an articulation by Menzel of the transformational grammar linguistic theory underlying the operationally defined construction of achievement test items. Bormuth's major objective is to describe and demonstrate an operationalized approach to the construction of achievement test items.
