Abstract

To understand relations between travel behavior and urban form is a prerequisite to guide a green transportation development.Based on data obtained from 4 neighborhoods in Shanghai, including residents' travel behaviors, social and economic characteristics, and urban form characteristics, this paper, using multi-linear regression theory and logistic model, discusses the relations between neighborhoods design characteristics and travel. Finally, the authors point out that existing development pattern on large neighborhood seems not to fit in with green transportation de-velopment,and that planning professionals should pay more attention on traditional neighborhoods pattern design which is favorable to biking and walking.
