Bullies and victims in a school setting with reference to some Dublin schools

Abstract

The population for the study was drawn from seven Dublin schools. The bullies and the victims were identified by means of teacher and peer ratings and class questionnaires. Tests. questionnaires and interviews were subsequently completed by the bullies, the victims and a control group. The principals and the participating teachers in the different schools also completed questionnaires. The intention was to draw up a picture of the physical, psychological personality and behavioural characteristics of bullies and victims and to examine the nature of bullying behaviour.
