Abstract
Effects of information on decisions were investigated. Questions addressed were: Does different evaluation information affect decisions? Does familiarity with the object evaluated moderate information effects? Does inputing information prior or subsequent to familiar ization also moderate information effects? An educational film was shown to 204 graduate students who were assigned randomly to no review or positive, negative, neutral, or mixed review conditions. Some were given reviews only, while others were given reviews either prior or subsequent to seeing the film. Information affected ratings and familiarity moderated these affects. Timing alone had no effects.
