Abstract
The idea that social progress means greater sexual freedom has been a theme of European radicalism for more than a century. It was common, though not universal, among socialist and feminist intellectuals before the Great War. The same idea was held by their opponents: feminism was denounced on the grounds that equality would lead to sexual licence, and Freud in his day was reviled as a pornographer and moral anarchist.KeywordsSexual PracticeSocial ConstructionismSexual CategoryPopular ActionSexual RevolutionThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
