Abstract
I would first like to congratulate the organizers of the present working conference. It is the first time that I am aware of when an attempt has been made to bring into working (and perhaps abrasive) contact philosophers, physicists, probabilists and statisticians. I am quite sure I am not alone in having views that are not at all laudatory of the philosophical world. I am not alone, I surmise, in having views that are not totally laudatory of the physics world. And I believe I am not alone in having views that are strongly critical (at best) of many parts of the probability world. Finally, as regards the statistical world I find that I have deep respect only for that part of the statistical world that is actually doing statistics and not that part which is engaged in constructing a panacea for all the problems of statisticating.
