Abstract
In the first of two articles that address the implications of the advent of the Single Market at the end of this year, Maryse Paillet-Kelson describes a study which set out to establish the working knowledge of the European Community held by a cohort of qualified nurses doing advanced nursing courses. The results indicate a distinct lack of knowledge, with only 30 per cent being able to name all 12 EC countries. This is an anomaly which nurse educators should try to correct. Next week, the author describes a proposed nursing module in European studies.
