Abstract

A scale for building assessment. This paper shows the results of the elaboration process of a questionnaire suggested by the authors to assess the environmental features of buildings. It is hypothesized that the users' perception of the building is structured in 5 basic dimensions: evaluation, temperature, space, air, and noise. A sample of 224 students from the faculty of Psychology was used. The results from a confirmatory factor analysis show that the predicted factorial structure fits the data. It has been also investigated to what extent the descriptive factors of buildings assessment can contribute to predict users' satisfaction with environment and building itself. In that sense, the evaluation factor appears as the most powerful predictor for users'satisfaction against physical dimensions, which explain a much lesser percentage of variance.
