Abstract
ASHTON, R. Behavioral Sleep Cycles in the Human Newborn. CHILD DEVELOPMENT, 1971, 42, 2098-29100. The behavioral sleep cycles of a group of 22 normal full-term neonates were studied. Consistent sleep cycles were found in all subjects, but the first epoch of Active Sleep following feeding was found to be curtailed as compared with later epochs. There was a significant correlation between the weight of the subjects and Quiet Sleep epoch durations.
