Social Group Work in a Soup Kitchen

Abstract

The soup kitchen functions as a symbolic living room for people whose marginality takes the forms of low income, long term; unemployment, debilitating physical conditions, serious mental illness, loneliness, and separation from conventional family relationships: Through use of group work, indigenous leadership in the social network of the soup kitchen was strengthened to foster self-help people helping each other.
