Abstract
This short book is the official proceedings of the first symposium of The Obesity Association of Great Britain held in London in October 1968. It is hoped that the monograph will be the first of many of this new association. Thirteen professors and other physicians concerned with human obesity in Great Britain participated in the discussions, although many references are made to the interesting literature on obesity in animals which is now available. Many of the chapters are followed by printed discussions between members of the symposium. This work is a good concise review of the entire subject of obesity with emphasis on methods of helping patients. Chapters are devoted to the etiology in children and adults, psychological factors, energy metabolism, body composition, and endocrine factors.
