TL;DR

The α 2 protein fraction appears as a risk factor of CHD independently of clinical diabetes and the standard CHD risk factors as hypercholesterolemia, high blood pressure, tobacco consumption and ECG abnormalities.

Abstract

Epidemiological results both retrospective and prospective in a working middle aged male population show alterations of the serum electrophoretic protein fractions in men with coronary heart disease (CHD) and men who will develop CHD. The α 2 protein fraction appears as a risk factor of CHD independently of clinical diabetes and the standard CHD risk factors as hypercholesterolemia, high blood pressure, tobacco consumption and ECG abnormalities.
