Abstract
Computer reservation systems (CRS) are recognized as a powerful marketing tool in the sale of airline reservations. Recent developments indicate that CRS are expanding their services to become travel and tourism distribution systems. David Collier, the Travel and Leisure Marketing Manager for the Sema Group, a multinational systems company, in November 1987 completed a BTET study trip to Australia and the Far East to examine the impact of CRS on patterns of Tourism. He has also examined their development in North America and Europe. Here the oppurtunities offered to tourism vendors and national tourist boards by the continuing development of CRS are highlighted.
