Abstract

As the year 2000 rapidly approaches, it is time to ask the question, "What will be the common diseases of the 21st century?" While there is insufficient information to reliably answer this question, there are some trends that may permit a partial answer. It is likely that lung cancer and AIDS will be 2 of the most common diseases of the early part of the 21st century.
