Abstract

Abstract Poststructuralist analyses of social phenomena are not new. They do, however, provide a critique of previous approaches to the study of leisure that deconstructs former projects. This paper is an attempt to reconstruct the study of leisure by suggesting 1) elements of the poststructuralist critique, 2) an introduction to the basis of a phenomenological framework, and 3) an outline of elements in such an agenda for leisure theory and research. These elements include a dialectic of social and existential metaphors in a context of change.
