Abstract

Presents educational methods aids and ideas for helping village health workers gain knowledge and skills needed to cure and prevent disease. It is based on the authors experience in western Mexico and is written for village health workers who may have little formal education themselves. Community health programs are advocated that involve the local people especially the poor; that are based on appropriate technology and local traditions; and that link health care for the poor to improvement of the entire situation in which they live.
