This paper presents a brief review of the basic dimensions of self-disclosing behavior as presently conceived and proposes two new parameters: affective manner of presentation and flexibility of the disclosure pattern. The nature and importance of these parameters in self-disclosing behavior are discussed in terms of interpersonal functioning and mental health.
