Abstract

This paper describes the capabilities and the use of a Microsoft Excel (TM) macro for the analysis of data collected by a vehicle fitted with the Fuel Consumption and Travel Time Data Acquisition System developed by the Australian Road Research Board. The macro was developed to automate the procedure of creating graphs and tables of summary statistics of the data collected by such an instrumented vehicle. Graphs of speed and fuel consumption versus time, speed and fuel consumption versus distance and speed histograms can be created for each link. A speed histogram can also be created for the complete run. Tables can be created for each link and for the complete run, containing information for distance travelled; fuel consumed; travel time; stopped time; average, running, minimum and maximum speeds and fuel consumption rate.
