Abstract

Cardiologist Kenneth LaBresh became interested in developing systems to improve health care in 1996, when he learned through a chart audit that only 22% of his patients with coronary artery disease had plasma LDL concentrations less than 100 mg/dL, the goal recommended by the American Health Association's (AHA) Secondary Prevention Guidelines.
