Abstract
We introduce the power average to provide an aggregation operator which allows argument values to support each other in the aggregation process. The properties of this operator are described. We discuss the idea of a power median. We introduce some possible formulations for the support function used in the power average. We extend the supported aggregation facility of empowerment to a wider class of mean operators, such as the OWA (ordered weighted averaging) operator and the generalized mean operator.
