Abstract

Interaction and cognitive engagement in online discussions of weekly readings in an online community of practice are investigated. Interaction features and content of students’ initial postings and subsequent replies are explored using methods of discourse analysis. It was found that students’ engage differently with individual vs. collaborative knowledge building.
