Abstract
In the light of this suggestion, we measured the activity of the enzyme in cancerous and non-cancerous human breast tissues to test this hypothesis and to elucidate possible molecular mechanisms. For this propose, we measured alanine aminopeptidase activity in 16 cancerous and 16 non-cancerous human breast tissues of the same patients using the method described by Sidorowicz et al. (2). However, we found no difference between the activities (X ± SD) of alanine aminopeptidase in cancerous (0.101 ± 0.045 U/mg) and non-cancerous (0.092 ± 0.049 U/mg) human breast tissues (Student's t-test, p < 0.25, n. s.). We neither found any correlation between alanine aminopeptidase activities of both tissues (r = 0.034).
