Abstract
This paper describes the development of an autonomous vehicle system which assists the human driver. Experiments were conducted with the following purposes: 1) clarify the problems in the recognition of the external environment by vision; 2) find a computer system appropriate for the autonomous vehicle; and, 3) determine the problems in the human-vehicle relationship in the autonomous vehicle.
