Abstract
In 1997, I entered a 1-year internship in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Ohio State University. Dr Peterson was the chairman of the program, and a very imposing figure. Of course, I knew of his accomplishments and was terrified of him. He encouraged me and educated me in that wonderful year. I placed my first 30 dental implants with him by my side—guiding me, questioning me, and challenging me.
