Abstract

In order to determine the value of research for the social work practitioner, the writer undertook the study reported in this article, a questionnaire sampling of four groups of social workers. The results of the study showed that relatively few practitioners make use of research findings or rate them as helpful. Social workers, the author feels, as responsible professionals are committed to improving the state of practice, and as part of this must accept the need to support research.
